Introduction

September 26 - October 23 - 2016

Before we start to learn and work together,

it's nice to know who everyone is.

There is a school page for every group.

If you click on the name of your school at the bottom of this page,
you can
 start to add your introductions!

Learning Circle 'ME becomes WE - Learn 2 change'.

You'll work on various assignments in the next months, together with peers from six different countries.
Each group will make contributions in their own way. Not only because each person is unique, but also because the living conditions and the culture in which you all grow up in vary a lot.
These different global responses will give you 'a new look' on opportunities in your own life.

You'll be able to empathize more with someone else, when you get to know yourself better. You feel more responsible for people around you and find out how you can connect to others, and add something meaningful to your society.

The challenges will help you to be more aware of your own character, behavior and limitations.

Can you learn 2 change things?
Who knows what happens
if you start to focus on how
ME becomes WE...

What are we going to do?

In the first weeks of the Learning Circle, you'll start with introducing your group and yourselves.

You'll find out which of your characteristics are striking or positive.

It'll be fun to think about ways to work on the assignments and publish your contributions as creative as possible on your own school page in this wiki!

Reflective questions.
We collected a few questions to help you get started, to reflect and to start a conversation.

These will help us to get more into the topic. You can easily download and print them.

The questions can guide you in a discussion/debat in your class or in smaller groups. Reports of your conversations, thoughts and opinions are interesting for the other participants.
We all like to learn more about you and your group!

These are the assignments for the introduction:

A. Assignment for everyone:
'See yourself through the eyes of another'. Introduce one of your classmates to us!

B. Assignments to choose from:
Decide with your class whether you want to work on one of the assignments below
or divide your class into groups and work on all three assignments.

    1. Introduce your group or class.
    2. 'Who's your hero?' Present your personal role model to us.

3. Design a 'ME becomes WE' logo to display in your class or school.

A. Assignment for everyone: 'See yourself through the eyes of another'.
     What's your story?

It's time to introduce yourselves to your circle members. It's time for your story!

Describing who you are is not easy; your character, your talents, dreams, hopes and peculiarities.
In this assignment, a classmate will do that for you! Isn't it much more interesting and fun to see yourself through the eyes of another?
Your classmate will find out what's striking about you as a person, using the reflective questions.

We are curious about you and how someone else sees you!
Is it a different image than you expected?

How do you proceed?

  1. Write your names on pieces of paper and put all of these together. Take two names out of the pile, again and again, until the group is divided into pairs.
  2. Use the reflective questions for the conversations in pairs. Focus mainly on the positive characteristics.
  3. Make as many notes as you like, to use in your presentation of your classmate.
  4. Start to make an image of the other, in words and in pictures. Think of a small report or poem and paint or draw a portrait of your peer.
  5. Show your peer what you made and wrote down.

  6. Discuss with your group how your 'images of the other' can be presented on your school page in a creative way.
Do you want to add all of them, or do you want to give some examples?
Which tool can you find to make this introduction attractive to other participants?

Your soul

Your life

Your rhythm

Your passion

Your world

Your tribe

Your story

Many ways to draw a picture of another...

B. Assignments to choose from:

1. Get to know each other: Introduce your group.

We'll be working together the next couple of months, so it's nice to get to know the other classes in the Circle.
Good to see and hear more about your group, your school and your community.

How do you proceed?

  1. Discuss in your group what's interesting for the other participants to learn about your group, your school and your community.
  2. Try to come up with a creative way to introduce yourselves: You can add your own song, make a rap or a lipdub or tell us about habits in your country.
  3. We all would love to see a group picture! Maybe you can add an extra weird, awesome one on your school page?

Additional question: What are your expectations and learning objectives for the Learning Circle?

EXAMPLE of an introduction movie:

2. Your hero: Introduce us to someone you admire.

We all meet people in our lives who inspire us to bring out the best in ourselves.
Some people we get to know personally, others are an example for us at a distance.

Their way of life can give you the spirit and the courage to make your dreams come true.

How do you proceed?

  1. Think of someone who inspires you and whom you admire.
  2. Describe why you choose this person.
  3. Find a way to present your role model on your school page: make a short video, create a catchy text or use cool tools to put your hero in the spotlights!

3. Design your own 'ME becomes WE' logo.

No matter where we live, we can all learn more from each other's differences but also discover our similarities; about what makes us really happy and what inspires us.
Together we can figure out how we can contribute to the happiness of others and be of significance and learn to add something meaningful, something great or something smaller.

Learn 2 change

How do you proceed?

  1. Explain what this logo means to you.
  2. Design a new ME becomes WE  logo.
  3. Use all kinds of materials and colors.
  4. Put a picture of your artwork on your school page.
  5. Display the logo in your class or school.

     Have fun and good luck!
